Discover the beauty and the scenery of the Mediterranean coast with this wonderful relaxing tour to Pompeii, one of the world 's heritage sites and surely a must see in Italy.
The tour includeS stops along the Amalfi coast in Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi. Your excursion can start from from your Hotel in Naples, Naples Centrail train station OR from Naples cruise terminal if you are on a cruise.
Your English speaking driver will pick you up at your hotel, at the port or at the Train station. First stop will be Pompeii where you will explore the Excavations of the ancient Roman Town, buried under 20 feet of ashes during the main eruption of Mount Vesuvius and listed amongst UNESCO world's heritage sites. Proceed with the driver and you will cross several charming villages: Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello.
The time you can stop in each of them will depend on your choice . We normally recommend to choose 2 towns, so to have some free time to enjoy and avoid rushing at the end of the tour. Consider that the driving time from the Amalfi coast back to Naples can take nearly 2 hours. Along the way your driver will give you the chance to get off and take some amazing pictures to some of the most breath taking views in Italy: steep cliffs, blue sea, luxurious villas grabbing to the rocks and incredible narrow roads stretching along the coast. The first village you find on your way will be Positano, famous for its ceramic works and its white washed houses.
The village has a pedestrian area and on the hills you can find some nice and informal restaurants with amazing views. Ask the driver ! Then off to Sorrento, famous for limoncello production, a sweet lemon based liquor that Italians usually drink at the end of the meal in summertime! Here you can ask the driver to stop to visit some limoncello factories and taste it! The town of Sorrento has also amazing shops of artisanal products and a beautiful terrance from where you can take a picture of the bay. Afterward, you will cross Amalfi, the historical town on the Coast, attracting people from all over the world with its glorious past. If you like you can visit Saint Andrew's Cathedral or you can try to get away from the crowds exploring the maze of little white painted walkways.
Finally you can visit Ravello (350 metres on the sea level), certainly the most elegant and least crowded place on the coast. In Ravello you can visit one of its ancient villas with astonishing view or just enjoy some free time.
